Mid-season black currant “Dobrynya” was obtained by experienced specialists from the All-Russian Research Institute of Lupine as a result of crossbreeding of the Iziumnaya variety and form 42-7. The author of this black-fruited currant is the breeder, doctor of agricultural sciences Alexander Ivanovich Astakhov, well-known to most gardeners. All varieties bred by these breeders are characterized by high early maturity, productivity and winter hardiness.
More than ten years ago, the variety "Dobrynya" was included in the State Register of the Russian Federation and recommended for cultivation on household plots and farms in the Central and West Siberian regions.
Description and characteristic
Black-fruited currant "Dobrynya" is a winter-hardy, early-growing, intensive type of variety with moderate resistance to spring frost and drought. The variety is practically not affected by powdery mildew, and also has sufficient resistance to fungal diseases and damage by the kidney tick.
|Bushes||Compact type, medium height. Shoots of medium thickness, straight, olive-violet staining, with a slight sheen and pubescence|

The average yield of Dobrynya currant is a little more than 10 t / ha or about 1.6-1.65 kg per adult plant. The maximum recorded yield is 16-16.5 t / ha or 2.3-2.5 kg per bush. The main advantages of this variety are represented by early maturity, growth, large-fruited, high productivity and resistance to powdery mildew.
Dates and rules for planting seedlings
Chokeberry "Dobrynya" can be planted both in autumn and in spring.
- on the territory of the middle zone of our country, seedlings of currants of this variety are best planted in the autumn, from the second half of September until the first days of October;
- it is recommended to plant prepared plants in low, with moderate humidity, well-lit by sunlight and protected from strong wind areas;
- the optimal distance between the planted bushes should be at least 1-1.5 m, which will make it easier to care for plants and harvest;
- pre-planting soil preparation on the site is a deep digging with the introduction of basic fertilizers;
- in order to lower the acidity of the soil, it is liming by adding lime in the amount of 300-500 g per square meter of area.
For landing, you can use the pits and trenches. The standard dimensions of the planting pit vary depending on the size of the root system of the plant, usually the depth is 30-40 cm, and the width is at least 40-50 cm. The seedlings should be buried along with the root neck to obtain the most powerful bush.
After landing care
Growing currants varieties "Dobrynya" is not difficult. The implementation of proper care after planting allows you to get a plentiful and high-quality crop.
|Watering||Irrigation measures should be regular and especially plentiful during the first ten days after planting. Further watering depends on the type of soil, weather conditions and the stage of vegetation of the plant|
|Top dressing||In the first couple of years after planting, plants require phosphate and potash fertilizers. In the spring, currants should be fed with nitrogen fertilizers at the rate of 45 g of urea per plant|
|Pest protection||Preventive measures are especially important for young and newly planted bushes, which are most vulnerable to plant parasites and pathogens. Insecticides and effective targeted fungicides are used.|
|Pruning bushes||The first pruning is carried out immediately after planting and consists in shortening all shoots by 50%. It is very important to leave no more than five of the most developed kidneys. The next three years, pruning is aimed at forming the most productive bush.|
Blackcurrant "Dobrynya" is rapidly gaining popularity among gardeners in our country. According to summer residents, the berries of this variety are among the most delicious, and the plant itself is unpretentious to the growing conditions and undemanding in care.
According to the observation of most gardeners, blackcurrant of this variety is very fond of phosphorus fertilizers, as well as slightly acidic, air- and moisture-permeable soil enriched with humus.
